Can you tell I am on a "pop of Basic Black" kick? Here's another look at my convention swaps. I used this color combo (Cameo Coral and Tempting Turquoise) on a swap last year and fell in love with it. I paired it with one of my favorite stamp sets for a card that is quick to put together and packs a lot of punch.
I started with a 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" card base in Basic Black cardstock. Since this design was for a swap, it is a card front only. To make a full card, simply use a half sheet of 8 1/2" X 11" cardstock folded in half to get the 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" card base.
Next came a layer of Cameo Coral which I stamped with Cameo Coral Classic Ink along the bottom third for a tone-on-tone effect. I layered Basic Black and Tempting Turquoise for the band across the middle. A scrap of black gingham ribbon adds some dimension and interest.
Next I stamped the flower medallion on Whisper White cardstock with Staz On. I used an Aqua Painter with Cameo Coral and Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink to color in the medallion. I added the white dot accents with a white gel pen. The signo uniball gel pen is the best!
Finally, I trimmed out the medallion with paper snips and mounted it to the card with dimensionals. I stamped the saying in Basic Black and viola!
Thanks for stopping by. Email me for more details about this project or for information about my upcoming classes.
Happy Stamping!

Today I am happy to share the second card from my Convention swaps. This card features a simple layout that I find myself turning to time and again.
